Carlo Ancelotti appears to have ruled out a January transfer for Kylian Mbappe after saying that the team's performance is more important at this stage of the season.
With his contract ending in the summer, the Paris Saint-Germain player is free to initiate pre-contract negotiations with the LaLiga leaders.
Earlier this week, speculations stated that Mbappe's future would not be decided until after PSG's Champions League match against Real Madrid in February, but now PSG coach Ancelotti has quashed rumours of a January transfer.
'I'm not sure.' 'We believe we will continue to compete for titles,' he told Goal. 'It's an exciting time since we've returned to La Liga and have the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.' It's a critical juncture. The last thing to do is to move for Mbappe, which I believe will happen on June 30.'
Mbappe has acknowledged that he wanted to join Real Madrid last summer, but the Spanish giants were unable to complete a £154 million deal.
Mauricio Pochettino's side, though, are anxious to win their first-ever Champions League trophy, and the PSG star has stated that he wants to finish the season with them. 'I will give everything I have to win the Champions League, the league, and the cup, as well as to give the supporters all the pleasure they deserve,' he said CNN last month.
PSG and Real Madrid will meet in the Champions League last-16, with the first leg taking place on February 15 at the Parc des Princes.
It means Mbappe has a chance to knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League before joining them in the summer.
